New to PDF Sewing Patterns? On this page we will show you how to print and assemble your PDF pattern at home the easy way. Let's start from the beginning. Here at Needle Eye Patterns When you purchase a pattern you will receive an email with download links like this:
If you are printing your pattern at home, you only need to download "A4-Letter", "Sewing Instructions" and "Printing and Assembling" files. Next, find your files in the "Download" folder on your computer. Open "Sewing Instructions" and find your size first. Then open "A4-Letter" file using Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you don't have this app you can easily download it HERE. Never open your patterns in Microsoft Word or the browser otherwise, you end up with the wrong scale.

Using Layers to Print a Specific Size:
All of Needle Eye PDF Patterns have layers for their sizes. What this means is that each size is on a different layer, and you can “turn off” sizes that you don’t need.
To see the layers, open the menu on the left side of the screen and click on the icon that looks like a stack of pages:
You’ll then see a list of the layers, including all of the sizes. To turn off a layer, click on the eye icon next to the layer name. Find your size and turn the rest off! The last layer is locked and should be always on. This is the layer with all the labels and grids:
In order to print the pattern correctly on a home printer, it’s necessary to choose certain settings:
• Actual size
• Orientation: Auto
• Paper format A4/Letter
Once the correct settings are chosen, you need to print only the first page containing the 1 x 1 inch test square. Measure the test square with your ruler; if the measurements don’t correspond to 1 x 1 inch, the print settings are incorrect (go back to first step).
If the test square measures exactly 1 x 1 inch, then you can proceed to printing the rest of the pages.
Taping and assembling the PDF patterns:
Trim the right-side corners of the pages, cutting diagonally at the edge of lines.
Overlap the cut corner with an uncut corner and line them up. With this method, there will be an overlap that could potentially hide some pattern info but it’s usually fairly easy to see the ink markings through the paper. Tape the pages together.
For all Needle Eye Patterns, we use a system where each column of pages has a number (1, 2, 3…) and each row of pages has a letter (A, B, C…). Here’s how the pattern will look like for the Cannes Shorts when you finished taping the pages together:
Now, the pattern is ready to cut. Using your paper scissors, cut around the pattern pieces right on the lines.
And your pattern pieces are ready to go, and you’re ready to start your project.
